Cantab Lounge in Cambridge Reborn
My post in mid-July noted a read at the Chat Noir poetry club in Paris. Recently I read in a very similar venue (basement of Cantab Lounge in Central Square, Cambridge), an historic venue and home before COVID of various slams and weekly readings with open mike. Exciting to be back to the re-opened and improved Cantab– same basement, floors no longer sticky with spilt beer, bathrooms now useable. Kudos to my friend and fellow board member (Big Brothers/ Big Sisters) Tim Dibble for buying and refurbing the place. I recommend going on line to see about poetry and also music promised 7 days a week; parking in accessible City lots around the corner take the challenge out of visiting there. (Pre COVID I read there often; this time I was still the oldest reader there, it gets a young crowd with remarkable poets and a funky vibe.)
And for those of you who know my son Matthew: he read a poem of his own, his first public reading. Frankly he fit into the gestalt of the place better than I did, but as you know I am often wrong but never unsure of myself.
