Burn-Out
Burn-Out is an eclectic, intelligent poetry collection that explores the elements of modern life, relationships between men and women often gone awry, the pains of living in our curious and frightening times, the overlay of death, and concludes with an ode to Kierkegaard and the deconstruction of a will made by an illiterate yeoman in 1745 that serves as a counterpoint to the complexity and lack of clarity in today’s world.
Burn-Out is Steve Honig’s sixth book, fifth of poetry. All poems were written during the two years ending August, 2022. Poets need “prompts.” Steve describes his prompts for the collection: “plague, war, death of people, death of a dying world, loss of liberty, loss of hope.” Such a world shakes loose fear, memory-and poetry.
